On November 26-28 2012 IFLA hosted an expert meeting on the subject of e-Lending in libraries. More than twenty library professionals, technology experts and publishing consultants met in The Hague to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing public libraries as eBooks enter the mainstream, and how IFLA can support its members as these issues develop. Following on from the production of a background paper on e-Lending in 2012, the outcomes of the meeting will contribute to a statement of Principles for Library eBook Acquisitions and Use which will be issued early next year. IFLA will be concentrating on the issue during 2013 with workshops and presentations taking place at the Management of Library Associations meeting in London in February, the Presidential Meeting in March and an extensive programme at the World Library and Information Congress in Singapore in August.
