A conference for leaders of School Library Services and Public Library Services for Children & Young People

The ASCEL (Association of Senior Children's and Education Librarians) annual members’ conference is the only conference aimed specifically at Heads of Children’s and School Library Services. Each year the conference focuses on a key theme relating to contemporary library services for children and young people presenting expert speakers; interactive workshops; updates from partners across the sector; publishers’ exhibitions; and a lively forum for discussion, debate and creativity.

ASCEL 2017 aims to explore:

  • the role that the Public Library Services can play in supporting parents and families to help raise their child’s aspirations and attainment and in encouraging children and young people to be aspirational
  • the role that School Library Services can play in supporting their school communities to raise aspirations and attainment in children and young people.

Ingrid Bon, Manager Development Programmes will give a presentation on A Global Vision for Literacy, Reading & Libraries.
